SLUG 2019 Hockey Tournament was held for three consecutive days at Matara Uyanwaththe Football House, Matara. The tournament kicked off on 2nd of August with the preliminary round matches between 12 university teams in both men and women categories. The respective universities were grouped under each category and from the preliminary round matches 8 teams got qualified for the quarter finals.In women’s category Colombo, Jaffna, Sabaragamuwa and Jayawardanapura teams topped their respective groups and being undefeated in the quarter finals, the teams got selected for the women’s semi-finals.In men’s category, Peradeniya, Colombo, Rajarata and Ruhuna teams got qualified for the men’s semi-finals, by securing top places in their respective groups and being undefeated in the quarter finals.
